This
is a picture of the memorial that stands in Arches' Fork, West Virginia.
It reads:
In
the fall of the year 1797 the
above men left their homes to look
for some horses they had lost while
hunting for buffaloes in the vicinity
of Fishing Creek, Wetzel County, Virginia,
now West Virginia.
They were killed and scalped by a party of
Indians. Their remains were found near
here and buried.
